(Petroleum, Oil and Lubricants)
by Lynden T. (Bucky) Harris
Note: DFA is diesel fuel arctic.
POL FACILITIES AT THE INTERMEDIATE SITES
As far as I can recall, there was two 10,00 gallon DFA storage tanks on site and two 25,000 gallon DFA storage tanks near the beach to be pumped to the site tanks as needed. Av/Gas was issued only under emergency condition and then it was pumped from 55 gallon drums. Mo/Gas too came in 55 gallon drums and hand pumped into vehicles. Heavy equipment used the same DFA as the power plants.
POL FACILITIES AT THE AUXILIARY SITES
You would find two 65,000 gallon storage tanks of DFA on site proper and two additional 65,000 storage tanks of DFA near the beach. Both JP-4 and MO/Gas was stored in 10,000 rubber bladders (flat on the ground). At Aux sites with hangars (LIZ 2, POW 2, PIN 4, CAM 2, CAM 3 AND FOX 2 would be two each 20,000 JP-4 rubber bladders. POW-3 and BAR-1 were somewhat configured different but main tanks were 65,000 gallon tanks
